Immerse yourself in the Renaissance tradition with the Grechetto "Grecante" DOC by Arnaldo Caprai, a wine that recalls the ancient glory of the "Greci, Grecanti, Grechetti" wines. Montefalco, famous for its wines, sent its Grechetto as a precious gift to princes and cardinals, keeping alive a historical tradition that Arnaldo Caprai's Grecante carries forward with elegance and authenticity.

Vinification of Excellence The grapes, carefully cultivated in the Cordon Spur and Guyot cultivation system, have a planting density of 5,000 plants per hectare. The yield per hectare, attentive to quality, stands at 90 quintals. The harvest takes place in the last week of August and the first of September, capturing the maximum varietal expression of the Grechetto grapes.

Aging that enhances Grecante goes through targeted refinement to give the palate a unique experience. After vinification, the wine rests in steel for 3 months, allowing controlled maturation. Subsequently, it completes its evolution in the bottle for at least another 3 months, refining the aromatic complexity and structure, ready to explode in the glass.

    Caprai winery

In 1971 Arnaldo Caprai, a successful textile entrepreneur, purchased forty-five hectares in Montefalco to realize his dream of running an agricultural company for the production of wine. Gradually, once the conviction of valorising the enormous potential of the native Sagrantino vine had matured, the best adjacent lands were annexed to the estate. Since 1988, the management of the company has passed into the hands of Marco Caprai, Arnaldo's son, who with great passion gives the decisive impulse for the success of the estate's wines through managerial management and by initiating collaboration with professionals in the sector and with Research institutes, both in the agronomic and oenological fields. Since '91 the company has been subjected to an enormous effort: acquisition of new vineyards, experimentation, technological modernization. The results can already be seen in the short term: the best clones and breeding methods are identified, the most suitable fermentations, the woods for an optimal refinement process. The '93 selection of Sagrantino di Montefalco (which celebrates the twenty-fifth anniversary of the company) places Marco forcefully among the great producers of Italian wine. In the last five editions, the Guide to Italian Wines published by Gambero Rosso and Slow Food has awarded Sagrantino 25 Anni the prestigious Tre Bicchieri award. Added to this are other prestigious awards, including the super three stars of the Veronelli Guide and the Wine Oscar as Best Producer awarded by the Italian Sommeliers Association. Since 1995 we have been reaping the fruits of intense work made up of important investments and research, to offer the best of our products. Today's objective is that of thirty years ago: constant and meticulous work in favor of quality, research and experimentation with new agronomic and oenological techniques, the diffusion of the culture and tradition of the territory from which the company is made interpreter.
